Biography.

Before Christian reggaeton had a name, a playlist, or awards, Travy Joe was already recording it in Puerto Rico. José Abraham Travieso was born in Bayamón, grew up in the Ingenio barrio of Toa Baja, and has spent nearly three decades convinced that the same beat that plays in the club can carry lyrics that point to Christ.

His first steps came in 1997, when he began rapping in churches across the island and formed the duo The Christian Rappers with Shinny Girl; with that project he toured hospitals, prisons, and benefit concerts. In 2004 his first solo album, Diferente Flow, came out, followed by Mi diario vivir (2006, with Redimi2 and Manny Montes), Guerreros del Reino (2008), Palabra Viva (2010), and Intimidad 911 (2014).

With Intimidad 911 he won the 2015 Arpa Award for Best Urban Album. In 2022 he signed on as co-writer and performer of "Danzando," the Gateway Worship Español single alongside Christine D'Clario, Daniel Calveti, Becky Collazos, and Josh Morales: it spent more than 40 weeks at number one on Monitor Latino and took the Dove Award for Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year.

In 2019 he shared publicly that he had been diagnosed with leukemia and given three weeks to live; he wrote the book El regalo del cáncer and today runs Resilient Foundation, a foundation that supports cancer patients. His most recent album, Resiliente (2023), brings his entire catalog together: urban flow, the worship choruses the church already sings, and a hope that doesn't deny pain but endures within it.

He keeps collaborating with the next generation — Miel San Marcos, Alex Zurdo, Samuel Troc, Sheila Romero — and in 2025 he released "Veré Tu Poder (Tomás)" with Sheila Romero. If anything defines his music, it's that: the language of the barrio placed in service of a message unashamed of the gospel.
