Sígueme Magazine (“Sígueme”), based in Texas, United States, is responsible for the personal data you share with us on siguememagazine.com.
What we collect
- Newsletter: your email and, if you choose, your name and country.
- Donations: name, email, amount and currency. Your card details are processed by Stripe; Sígueme never sees or stores them.
- Donor ticker: the name you choose to show, only if you tick that option. Otherwise you appear as “Anonymous”.
- Contact form: name, email, outlet or organization and your message.
- Browsing: basic technical data (IP address, browser, pages visited) for security.
- Statistics: we use our own tool (Umami), hosted on our server, without cookies or personal data: it counts visits, pages read and whether a story was read or shared, anonymously. It honors your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting and is not shared with anyone.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter if you subscribed.
- To process your donation and send you a receipt.
- To answer your messages.
- To protect the site from abuse and measure what content is read.
We don’t sell or rent your data. We don’t use it for personalized advertising. We never send it to artificial-intelligence services.
Who we share it with
Only with providers that help us run the site and process data on our behalf:
- Stripe: donation payments.
- Mailgun: sending the site’s emails.
- Google Workspace: our contact mailbox.
- IONOS: website hosting.
Some of these providers are outside your country. We may also disclose data when a competent authority requires it by law.
Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it or object to its use, and withdraw your consent at any time. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the link at the bottom of any email. For anything else, email us at info [at] siguememagazine [dot] com or use the contact form on “How we work”, choosing “Other”. We reply within 20 business days. If you live in a U.S. state with its own privacy law (such as Texas or California), you can also exercise the rights it grants you the same way.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: for as long as you stay subscribed.
- Donations: as long as tax and accounting obligations require.
- Contact messages: up to 24 months.
Minors
Anyone can read the site without registering, but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. To subscribe to the newsletter or donate you must be at least 16, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
Changes
If we change this notice, we’ll publish the new version here with its date. If the change is significant, we’ll announce it in the newsletter.
