Alex Campos.

Alex Campos was born in Bogotá on September 10, 1976, and grew up in an evangelical church. At 17 he formed Misión Vida, the band that started it all, and in 1999 he recorded his first album live, Tiempo de la cruz, which launched him fully into his country's Christian music.

Three years later came Al taller del maestro, an album born in a difficult moment: he was diagnosed with a tumor on his vocal cords, and surgery could have cost him half his voice; on the day of the operation, the tumor was gone. He released it with CanZion, and in 2004 it earned him his first Premio Arpa, as songwriter of the year. He never stopped after that: Como un niño (2005), Cuidaré de ti (2008), Lenguaje de amor (2010) —the album that won him his first Latin Grammy—, Regreso a ti (2012), Derroche de amor (2015), and Momentos (2017).

His fifth Latin Grammy came in 2020 with Soldados, an album of duets with voices from the Christian urban scene like Indiomar and Madiel Lara. He then released VIDA (2023) and Esencia (2024), and in 2026, as he turned 50, he opened a new chapter with "Aquí Estoy," his next album: the singles "Lo que hoy no pudo ser," "Fuimos paralelos," and "Aquí Estoy" are already available, and the full 14-song album is announced for February 12, 2027.

What defines his music is the fusion: pop and rock with Colombian and Latin rhythms, acoustic guitar, and first-person lyrics that speak plainly about faith. He has recorded with Marcos Witt, Jesús Adrián Romero, Redimi2, Lilly Goodman, Fonseca, Jorge Celedón, and Silvestre Dangond, and he also produces for other Colombian artists like Sara Borraez, Su Presencia, and Lorelei Tarón.

His team reports more than 2 billion streams and 12 million followers on social media. Nearly three decades after that first album, his songs still play in churches and on tours across more than 26 countries: "Al taller del maestro," "Sueño de morir," "Tu poeta," "Soy soldado," and "Cara a cara" are now part of the repertoire of several generations.
