Biography.

Chris Tomlin was born in 1972 in Grand Saline, Texas, a town where country music played at home and the Baptist church set the rhythm of the week. His father gave him his first guitar, and he learned by playing Willie Nelson records; at fourteen he wrote his first worship song. At Texas A&M University he was a worship leader for Breakaway Ministries, where he met Louie Giglio. With him he founded Passion, the college movement that changed the way the young church sings: congregation, guitars, and lyrics about who God is.

His first record, Inside Your Love, was released independently in 1995. Then came Authentic (1998), The Noise We Make (2001), and Arriving (2004), the album that put "How Great Is Our God" in churches across half the world. After that came See the Morning, Hello Love, And If Our God Is for Us…—the 2012 Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album—, Burning Lights, Love Ran Red, Never Lose Sight, and Holy Roar. Time magazine described him as the most-sung artist in the world, and his label counts 21 number-one singles and more than twelve million albums sold.

In 2022 he released Always, the album that features "Holy Forever," the song that won the Dove Award for Song of the Year in 2024 and that the Dove Awards themselves presented in a multilingual version with Miel San Marcos and Gabriel Guedes. In 2023 he recorded "Holy Forever (Español)" with Miel San Marcos, and in 2024 that version earned him a Dove nomination for Spanish-language worship song. In 2025 he was executive producer of the film The Last Supper, for which he wrote "No Greater Love," and released The King Is Still The King; in 2026 he added the EPs Jesus Saves, Help My Unbelief, and My Father's World, plus another Dove nomination for "How Good It Is."

So why does it matter? Because a good part of what gets sung on a Sunday came from his pen. His bet is simple and demanding: songs any congregation can sing, with the glory given to God and not to the stage. To start, "Holy Forever," "Good Good Father," and "How Great Is Our God"; and his new releases, which we follow every season in Frecuencia.
