Biography.

Lismore is a town in northern New South Wales, Australia, and that's where this story begins. Taya Gaukrodger grew up in a house where people sang: her father was an elder and worship leader at a small church, and she started leading worship in high school. In 2010 she left town for Sydney, at 21, with a retail job and one clear goal: to make a living from music.

Guitarist and producer Michael Guy Chislett first invited her to record backing vocals and then to sing lead on "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)." The song became the anthem of a generation of churches: it spent 61 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Christian chart and is multi-platinum. With Hillsong UNITED, Hillsong Worship and Young & Free, TAYA sang in front of more than ten million people across twelve countries and lent her voice to "Touch the Sky" and "Whole Heart (Hold Me Now)."

Her solo career began with "For All My Life" and the album TAYA (2022), fourteen songs written and produced with Jon Guerra, with Jon Foreman of Switchfoot among the co-writers. The second chapter arrived on April 4, 2025 with The Reminder, an album announced by the singles "Gonna Be Good" (February 2024) and "Come Into The Light" (October 2024). Then came her first headlining tour in the United States and, in April 2026, a deluxe edition of The Reminder.

And then came something that speaks directly to the Hispanic audience: singing in Spanish. "Al Estar Aquí," the song she recorded with Marcos Witt, was nominated for Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year at the 2025 Dove Awards; in 2026 followed "One And Only" with Cody Carnes and "¡Alabo!" with ECCOS.

Her voice is powerful and her repertoire is unadorned: songs the church can sing on Sunday that point to Jesus, not to the singer. Her catalog insists on God's faithfulness in the dark and in the light, and that is the thread that carries her from Lismore to the big stages.
