Biography.

Some musicians are known by their name, and others by their nickname. To almost everyone, Héctor Antonio Rivera García is Perucho: the singer-songwriter from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, who was already into music at fifteen and who today keeps recording and producing from his studio, PeruMusik.

Long before his voice appeared on an album of his own, Perucho was the arranger, songwriter, and producer that others called on: he has worked with more than 300 ministers and artists, among them Marcos Witt, Roberto Orellana, Julissa, René González, Danny Berríos, and Samuel Hernández, and also with figures in secular music such as Víctor Manuel, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Chayanne.

In 1998 he released his first project, El Poder del Amor. Four years later came Almas Unidas, the album that earned him his Latin Grammy nomination in 2003 in the Best Christian Album category. Then came El Toque de Tu Amor (2004), Zona de Adoración (2007), Éxitos (2008), Salmos (2009), and Amor Intenso (2011).

His sound moves in pop rock, but it doesn't stop there: he draws on rhythms and colors from different countries because his conviction is that Christ is for every culture and that church music doesn't have to sound the same everywhere. He also preaches and teaches about praise, worship, and music production, and has taken that message to conferences in Puerto Rico, Argentina, Costa Rica, and the United States.

The last decade found him releasing without pause: Una Vez Más (2015), El Baúl de los Tiempos (2017), Todavía No He Terminado (2020), the singles “Toda Rodilla Se Doblará” (2022) and “Los Cuatro Vientos” (2022), “Yo Estaré” (2023), and the album Zona de Adoración 2 (2024). For a generation that grew up singing in church and listening to music on their phones, his catalog remains a bridge between what gets sung on Sunday and what plays the rest of the week.
