Biography.

Some projects can be explained in a single scene: a room full of people singing in Spanish what half the church already sings in English. Maverick City Música is the Hispanic branch of the worship collective Maverick City Music, the group that, from Atlanta, changed the way worship is recorded in the United States, and it exists because the first time that songbook was sung in Spanish, the response overflowed the original plan.

The collective was born in 2018, in Atlanta (Georgia), when Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay brought together songwriting camps with dozens of artists and songwriters to make room for voices that usually stayed outside the industry. From that trunk came «Como En El Cielo» (March 19, 2021), the project's first Spanish-language album and the starting point of Maverick City Música, with voices like Laila Olivera, Melody Adorno, Aaron Moses, Karen Espinosa and Johnny Peña.

«Venga Tu Reino» (October 1, 2021), released by Tribl Records, widened the map: Evan Craft, Christine D'Clario, Daniel Calveti, Blanca and Sam Rivera appear on a repertoire that blends studio and live nights. Then came «Venga Tu Reino (Deluxe)» and «Simple Adoración» (2022), plus two collaborations that circulated widely in churches: the single «Tu Gloria (En Vivo)» (2021), a Generación 12 song with Maverick City Música as co-artist, and the EP «Júbilo» with Miel San Marcos (2022). Their most recent Spanish-language recording is «Gracias Dios (I Thank God)» (2024), a single by Genavieve Linkowski on which Maverick City Música and Andrez Babii sing with her.

In 2022 the project totaled six nominations: four at the Premio Arpa — Song of the Year for «Tumbas a Jardines», Best Album or Track by a Group or Duo, Producer of the Year and Album of the Year for «Venga Tu Reino» — and two at the GMA Dove Awards, Spanish-language song and album.

Their signature is recognizable: worship with long choruses, spontaneous moments and lyrics of surrender and trust, meant to be sung in congregation rather than listened to alone. For a generation that lives between two languages, that is the point: singing in the language of home what is already sung in the language of school.
