Luis Morales Jr.
Guatemalan singer and producer, founder of Miel San Marcos and co-author of part of the most-sung songbook in Spanish-language worship; nominated for the 2023 Arpa Awards and the 2026 Dove Awards.
Biography.
Luis Morales Jr. is one of the three brothers who founded Miel San Marcos in San Marcos, Guatemala, in the year 2000. He sings and produces in the band, and his name appears in the credits of a good part of the songs that Hispanic churches sing on Sundays, from “No Hay Lugar Más Alto” to “Solo Hay Uno.” His measure was never the stage: it was the congregation that comes back to sing them.
His public career began with the group: the independent albums of the first decade and, later, the projects that took the band across the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. “Como En El Cielo” (2015) and “Pentecostés” (2017), recorded at Madison Square Garden in New York, won the Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year, and the 19th Latin Grammy Awards (2018) nominated “Pentecostés (En Vivo)” for Best Christian Album in Spanish. In 2022 the Morales brothers published the book “Señor, Enséñanos a Adorar.”
In 2025 the group marked 25 years of ministry: two concerts—at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala and Arena CDMX—drew around 45,000 attendees and earned them a platinum record from the RIAA for “Pentecostés.” The recording of those nights came out in September 2026 on the album “Miel San Marcos 25 Años.”
In parallel he signed his own songs. “Vida De Mi Amor” (2022) earned him the nomination for Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 Arpa Awards, and “Princesa De Papá” (2024) showed him in an intimate register, of family and gratitude. Then came “Nuestra Oración” (2025) and “CRISTO” (2026); the live version recorded at the El Salvador Prison gave him a 2026 Dove nomination for Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year, which will be awarded on October 6 in Nashville.
His songs have a concrete destination: the voice of a church, not the showcase of a soloist. He writes, produces, and records with that goal, and he has taken them to more than 25 countries. If you ever sang “No hay lugar más alto” with your people, you already sang something that passed through his hands.
