Jonathan Avila.

Jonathan Ávila is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter and worship leader based in Dallas, Texas, who has spent nearly two decades writing songs so the Spanish-speaking church can sing what God has done.

His recording career began in 2007 with the album that bears his name. Since then his sound has moved through congregational worship with pop and rock accents, and with electronic touches showing up in the arrangements: songs made for worship, but also for listening to in the car or with headphones. That path includes the albums "Quiero Más de Ti" (2014) and "Desata Tu Poder" (2017), the EP "Honestidad" (2019), and the EPs and singles he releases on his own label, Avila Music, under license from Adarga Entertainment Group.

Among his best-known songs are "Rey de Mi Ser," recorded with Twice Música, and "Tuyo Soy." In 2022 came one of his most visible honors: the National Academy of Christian Music and Arts nominated him for the Arpa Award in the Songwriter of the Year category for "Por Tu Gracia," at the 17th edition held at the Roberto Cantoral Theater in Mexico City.

His recent project is "Hemos Visto Tu Bondad," which he presented at the Asociacionismo Glocal Conference in Miami, Florida, before releasing the first single on September 26, 2025. The song, he says, was born not of hardship but of gratitude: "I wanted to write a project that spoke in the plural, not just about my personal experience, but about what we as a church have seen," he said when announcing it.

That is the key to his music: songs written in the first-person plural, so a whole congregation can remember God's faithfulness in every season and draw from it hope for what lies ahead. Alongside the music, he shares teachings and conversations about character, leadership, and faith for daily life, and stays active on platforms and social media with worship content.
