Aroddy.

Arody Espinales Portillo —Aroddy in his album credits— was born in Chiquimula, in eastern Guatemala, and is now based in Houston, Texas. His name began to circulate in 1990, when he released his first album, “Fiel Amigo”; ever since, he has maintained a catalog of more than a dozen releases and one rule that hasn’t changed: almost everything he sings, he wrote himself.

Then came “Más de Ti Menos de Mí” (1996), “Pueblos Todos” (2001), “Eternamente Agradecido” (2003), “Amor Sin Límite” (2005), “La Historia” (2007), “Todo Es Tuyo” (2011), “Que Viva Jesús” (2014) and “Te Prefiero a Ti” (2018), plus the live album “Olor Fragante”. Along the way he also wrote for others: Leonel Tuchez, Katty Mazariegos, Pedro Rivera Jr. and Luis Enrique Espinosa are among the singers who have recorded his songs.

The most visible moment came in 2021: his EP “Ya Me Ví” won the Latin Grammy for Best Christian Album in Spanish. The following year he returned to the same category as a nominee with “Ya Llegó la Primavera”, in a field won by Marcos Witt with “Viviré”. His catalog now totals twelve albums and more than three decades of work.

He hasn’t stuck to the usual format. In 2024 he released the EP “Culto Racional”; in 2025 came the singles “Así de Bueno Eres Dios”, “Ovejas de Su Prado” and “Historia de Navidad”; and in 2026 arrived the EP “Se Trata de Ti”, with orchestra and session musicians. His music is worship for congregational singing: direct melodies, lyrics of trust and gratitude, with no extra frills.

He is also the author of the book “21 Hábitos de un Verdadero Adorador”, where he carries that theme into everyday life: worship doesn’t begin on stage or end with the applause — it is a whole life placed before God. For someone just starting to sing in their church, his story leaves a simple lesson: consistency, more than a stroke of luck, is what sustains a career.
