Álvaro López & ResQ Band.

Álvaro López is a Mexican drummer, singer, and producer who has led Álvaro López & ResQ Band since 1997 — a Spanish-language Christian music project with a full live band: drums, brass, fusion, and songs meant to be sung in church.

His current chapter began that same year, when he left Torre Fuerte — the group he toured Latin America and the United States with — to form his own band. From those early years came “Por Amor” (1998) and “Sueños” (2000), recorded in Spanish, and “The Alvaro Lopez Project” (2001), his first English-language production.

Then came “Alabanza Viva” (2004), “Altavoz” (2011), and “Sol Detente” (2017), the album that earned him the 2017 Latin Grammy nomination for best Christian album in Spanish. In 2023 he released “Jericó,” a 27-song album: at that year's Arpa Awards he received four nominations, including Track of the Year, Producer of the Year, Best Album or Track by a Group or Duo, and Album of the Year.

The catalog has not slowed down: “En la Intimidad” (2023), “A Solas Con Dios” (2024), “Vida” (2025), and, in 2026, the 15th-anniversary edition of “Altavoz,” the singles “Tú Me Amaste Primero” and “Poderoso,” and “Aleluya” with Miel San Marcos, announced for October.

What keeps ResQ Band going is the craft: session musicians, careful arrangements, and a blend of pop, fusion, and worship that sounds like work done well rather than spectacle. Nearly thirty years on, he keeps recording and touring — with recent dates in Chile and Uruguay — and in a scene where projects rarely last, that is also a message.
