Biography.

Miel San Marcos has been singing in the church for more than 25 years, and it is no longer just a band from Guatemala: it is one of the most-listened-to worship voices in Spanish. It was born in San Marcos, Guatemala, in the year 2000, led by the brothers Josh, Luis, and Samy Morales, and its repertoire began to travel faster than they did: the songs were first learned in churches and then in the voices of congregations across the continent.

The first albums —He ahí el cordero (2001), Digno es Él (2006), Eres mi Dios (2008)— were recorded live, and that format became their signature: Avivamiento (2010), Proezas (2012), Como en el cielo (2015), Pentecostés (2017), and Evangelio (2023) are albums with an audience, with call-and-response choirs, and with songs that outlast the recording.

Recognition came on several fronts. At the Dove Awards, their industry peers in the United States gave them Spanish Language Album of the Year in 2015 (Como en el cielo), 2018 (Pentecostés), and 2024 (Evangelio en vivo), and Spanish Language Song of the Year in 2017 (No hay lugar más alto) and 2023 (Coritos en vivo). At the Arpa Awards they have appeared on the official lists of the XVII, XVIII, and XIX editions, in categories such as Album of the Year, Group or Duo Album or Track, and Live Album.

Their sound is contemporary worship: a live band, synthesizers, room for the congregation, and lyrics that point to Christ before emotion. From there come "No hay lugar más alto," "Danzo en el río," "Increíble," "Yeshua," and "Agradecido," and from there too the collaborations with Gateway Worship, Elevation Worship, Maverick City Music, Marcos Witt, and Christine D'Clario. In the last three years they released Proverbios (2024), the EPs Sinfonías de adoración and Digno de adorar, the live albums Dios de generaciones (2025) and Avivamiento (En Vivo Desde Perú) (2026), and the single CRISTO.

In 2025 the group turned a quarter of a century, and in September 2026 they celebrate it with Miel San Marcos 25 Años, a look back through their catalog that celebrates the same thing as the live albums: songs that a generation learned in worship and keeps singing outside of it. For those who grew up with them, the album is an excuse to revisit their own story; for those just arriving, it is an entry point to worship in Spanish. Which of these songs did you sing for the first time in your church?
