draw close is music without lyrics that still sings. Piano, strings, and silences meant for praying, studying, or closing out the day: the instrumental project of American musician and producer Dana Miller, based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and released on his own label, Hillside Recording.

The catalog launched on August 26, 2022 with “In Jesus Name (God of Possible) - Instrumental” and never stopped: a single almost every month, plus albums that organize the repertoire, like Ambient Peace (2022), how wonderful (2023), Never Alone (2023), Piano Worship (2023), and Be Still and Know (2024). In 2026 he added the EP All of my heart, with pianist Emmanuel Songsore.

Recognition came with Piano Worship: the official list for the 19th edition of the Premios Arpa placed it in the Best Instrumental/Choral Album category, decided on November 7, 2024 at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City. The award went to Samy Galí for Sublime Adoración. That an independent, English-language, wordless project made that shortlist says a lot about the place it has earned among Christian instrumentalists; from there came collaborations with David Lindner, Christopher Galovan, Titus Major, and Emmanuel Songsore.

His sound is devotional and stripped down. Instrumental versions of hymns like Come Thou Fount and Amazing Grace sit alongside short original pieces, a minute and a half to three minutes long, where Daniel Gonzalez's cello appears often. There's no sermon and no lyrics to explain anything: the music leaves space for the listener to speak.

Today he passes 600,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and his official channel sums it up in one line: helping each person draw closer to Jesus. For a young person who studies, works, or gets home tired, it's a soundtrack ready for the bedroom, the bus, or time alone with God.
