Biography.

If your church has sung a song in Spanish that was originally written in English, there is a good chance Coalo Zamorano is behind that translation. Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 1972, Jorge Clodoaldo Zamorano moved with his family to Durango in 1986, where a neighbor, Marcos Witt, brought the gospel to his home. His mother believed, and so did he, and the church became his school.

His public career began in 1991 at CanZion, the label Witt founded for Spanish-language Christian music. He came in through the administrative side and ended up doing a bit of everything: background vocals, arrangements, songwriting, and production on more than forty albums. He wrote songs for releases that are now reference points — “Poderoso” (1993) and “¡Alabadle!” (1994) by Marcos Witt — and in parallel led the rock band VCV, with two albums: “VCV 1.0 - Vida Camino Verdad” (1998) and “QHE?” (2001).

As a solo artist he debuted in 2004 with “Cosas Poderosas”, a collection of songs translated from English that he had seen work in the Hispanic ministry of Lakewood Church in Houston, where he led worship for years. That same year the Latin Grammy nominated him in the Christian category and gave him an award as producer of “Niños Adorando 2”. Then came “Eres Mi Pasión” (2006), “Mi Confianza está en Ti” (2009), and “Más Fuerte Que Nunca” (2011).

In 2014 he released “Confesiones de un Corazón Agradecido”, which once again landed him on the Latin Grammy list and earned him an Arpa Award; the Arpa Awards had already recognized him in 2009 for “Mi confianza está en ti”. His hand as a producer also counts: the 2014 award in the Christian category went to “La Carta Perfecta - En Vivo”, by Danilo Montero, an album he produced. In 2016 came “Sesiones Orgánicas”, and in 2020 “Gloria Sea a Ti”, recorded live in Bogotá.

His music carries a signature: songs meant for a whole congregation to sing, lyrics anchored in Scripture, and the conviction that worship is not a show. In 2024 he released the EP “Bienvenido Aquí”, and in 2025 a batch of singles — “Gracias Rey”, “Medley Clásico”, “Esto Es Navidad” — along with collaborations with Kike Pavón, Miel San Marcos, and Gateway Worship Español. His catalog is the thread between the worship you sang as a child and the worship that fills your church today.
