Biography.

Grupo Respaldo sings the faith the way it is sung in the sierra: with requinto, accordion, and a ranch voice. The trio is made up of Clemente Cota, Pablo González, and Roberto Cota, and comes from Choix, a municipality in the sierra of Sinaloa. Since 2018 they have turned regional Mexican music into a way of preaching, and today it is one of the Christian groups in the genre with the widest reach: more than 220,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and over 147,000 subscribers on its YouTube channel.

The first years went song by song. In December 2018 they released Mientras Dios Este Conmigo, a fourteen-track album; then came Soy Diferente (2020) and Nuestras Raíces (2021), which took them from the churches of Sinaloa to stages in the United States and Central America. Along the way they learned to record without a studio: Sesión, Desde Time Producciones, Desde Los Mochis, En Vivo Con Acordeón, En Vivo Desde El Rancho, and Desde La Fábrica are live albums, made in front of their own people.

Along the way they have also added more than a dozen singles and collaborations with Inspiración Cristiana, Los Herederos, Grupo Hesed, Herencia Cristiana, and Propósito Con Estilo. Songs like "El Raro," "Declaro," "Afortunado," "Tus Promesas," and "El Morro"—that last one with Propósito Con Estilo—are among the most listened to in Christian sierreño.

In 2026 they released Pausa, their fourth album: ten songs about waiting, giving thanks, and returning to the cross, with music videos like "Renuncio" and "Simplemente Gracias." The album made this year's preliminary list of the Premios Arpa in three categories: group or duo album, release of the year, and producer of the year. Their most recent single is "Las Palabras Me Hacen Falta."

Their music does not promise a life without problems: it tells how they are gotten through. That is why their repertoire has traveled from Sinaloa to much of Mexico, the United States, and Central America. If you don't know them yet, start with Pausa: it is the best portrait of a group that keeps fine-tuning the same message.
