Alex Rodriguez.

Alex Rodríguez was born in San José, Costa Rica, on December 26, 1975, and grew up in Puntarenas, on the Pacific coast. From childhood he understood music as his way to evangelize, and at 18 he recorded his first album, «Solo para Ti» (1993). He lives in Costa Rica today.

In the nineties his name became known in Central America with «Fueron tus manos» (1994), «A tus pies» (1996), and «Sin Fronteras» (1999), the album that includes «El Maestro de Galilea», the song that opened doors for him outside Costa Rica: its video has more than 26 million views on YouTube. In 2001 he was chosen second voice of the year by Radio Nueva Vida, in California.

His signature is rhythm. Cumbia, mariachi, trio, bolero, and Latin fusion fit into his songs of faith: «Despertar» (2001) and «Sabor a Madera» (2002) reach for Central American roots, «On Fire» (2010) and «Gózate Latin Style» (2014) pick up the pace toward the danceable, and with «La Recompensa» (2022) he brought together eleven tracks of Latin American air, from «Nazareno» to «Cumbia para el Rey».

The recognition came early: in 2003 he won best Christian music singer at the Latin Music Fan Awards, the «Premio de la Gente», in Las Vegas, a category he shared with Jesús Adrián Romero, Marcos Witt, Danilo Montero, and Anette Moreno; in 2005 he received the Latin Award from Cristo Club, in Toronto. In 2023, «La Recompensa» was nominated for the Premios Arpa in the Regional or Tropical Music Album or Track category.

Today his official YouTube channel has more than 240,000 subscribers and almost 179 million views. On May 28, 2025, he released the single «Sueño», with an official video, and in 2026 he brought part of his catalog to English with lyric videos, in addition to the medley «Más allá del Sol». His question remains the same as always, now with bass and timbales: can faith be danced too?
