Cardec Drums.

Cardec Drums is the stage name of Jacob Cardec, a Puerto Rican drummer, producer, and songwriter who has become one of the signature names of Spanish-language Christian urbano. He trained at the Atlanta Institute of Music and started out playing drums on tour with artists like Alex Faith, Dominic Balli, and Andy Mineo; in 2012 he produced "New Years" for Social Club Misfits and the following year won the remix contest for "I Know" by Lecrae.

Since then his name has appeared on major credits: KB, Lecrae, Tedashii, Derek Minor, Redimi2, Almighty, Funky, and Manny Montes, among others. In 2019 he co-founded the independent label No Apologies Music, whose first signee was Tommy Royale, and in 2020 he teamed up with Reach Records on the project Sin Vergüenza, the Spanish-language album by 116 Clique that he produced to bring American hip hop and Latin urbano closer together.

His work as a producer has earned him four Dove Awards, all in the Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year category for albums he produced: Today We Rebel (KB, 2018), MOOD // DOOM (Social Club Misfits, 2020), His Glory Alone (KB, 2021), and His Glory Alone II (KB, 2024). In 2024 he was also nominated for Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year and for short form video for "Danza," with KB and Niko Eme.

As a solo artist he debuted with the EP HopeTober 2 (2018, with Eliud L'Voices) and later released Cardec & Friends: Season 1 (2023), El Gordito Lindo: Part 1 (2025), Christmas bops (2025), and the EP Socaton (2026). Under the alias El Gordito Lindo he celebrates his Caribbean roots, and his catalog — reggaetón, soca, and trap, with lyrics that move between Spanish and English — also plays in film and television.

For a generation growing up between two cultures, his story is a lesson in craft: rhythm is neither decoration nor a stepping stone; it is work done with excellence and put in the service of a message. His songs invite you to the party without letting go of faith, and in a genre that measures everything in numbers, that remains countercultural.
