1,740 churches are opening their doors in Spain to screen the first episode of season 6 of The Chosen before the November 17 premiere, Protestante Digital reported.

The campaign kicked off in mid-September and registration is still open. The Chosen España explains that each community signs up through its leader or pastor, picks a date before the premiere, and hosts the gathering in its own space. We already covered the announcement of the series finale here; this is a different story.

A room, not a pulpit

After the episode comes a time of conversation: sharing impressions and raising questions about who Jesus is and what his path to the cross means. That's where the value is. The screening isn't meant to be a sermon with a big screen; it's meant to be a door.

«A series opens the conversation; it doesn't carry the cross for anyone.»

— Mateo Ríos

For someone in their 20s who drifted away from church, or who never had a community, walking into a place with familiar faces is easier when the plan is to watch something together. The series is a bridge, not the message. A series opens the conversation; it doesn't carry the cross for anyone.

I suspect this idea works outside Spain too. In Orlando, in San Juan, in Monterrey: people don't show up to church on their own. They come because someone invited them to something specific and waited for them.

The stretch that leads to the cross

Episode 601 opens the stage that leads to the Passion and the crucifixion, the most decisive stretch of the story.

Gabriel López, head of strategy for The Chosen España, put it this way: "There are tens of thousands of fans of the series in Spain who don't belong to any community." His hope is that they find a place where they can deepen their relationship with Jesus.

There are many people who know the character and still don't know the Lord. A screen helps you start, but it doesn't replace the preached Word, prayer, or the shared table. "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself" (John 12:32, ESV). That lifting up was not a special effect.

What's already happening in Madrid and Barcelona

At the same time, a national tour is running that hung the "Sold out" sign in Albacete, Jaén, Antequera, Murcia, and Alicante, and will continue through Valencia, Málaga, Granada, Badajoz, Zaragoza, and Bilbao.

On October 4, the series joined Hillsong gatherings in Madrid and Barcelona: 580 people in Madrid, with the venue at full capacity, and 1,018 in Barcelona, above the 800 seats planned.

Those numbers explain the 1,740 sign-ups. They also warn about something: a full room is not a changed life. If attendees leave moved and no one texts them three days later, the screening stayed a nice memory. The work starts afterward.

If your church is in Spain, registration is still open to organize a screening before November 17. If you're far away, the question is the same: would you open your community's room for something like this? And if no one has ever invited you, take the initiative yourself. Pick a friend without a community, watch the episode together, and stay for the questions. "Come and see," Jesus told his first disciples (John 1:39, ESV).
