The cost of mental health comes first. According to the Mind Health Report 2026, reported by Xataka México, 55% of Mexicans with emotional concerns did not see a professional in the last year.

Seeking answers is not lack of desire

No one stops asking for help because they don't care. Anxiety accumulates about 201,000 monthly searches on Google in Mexico, according to 2025 data from Doctoralia. Behind it come depression, with 165,000; stress, with 110,000, and self-esteem, with 90,000.

That interest hits a wall. Among those who did not go to a consultation, 50% cited the cost of consultations and treatments; 35%, lack of time or not being able to leave their responsibilities; 17%, poor access to professionals, and 13% fear of being judged.

«What stops you is not lack of desire. It's the structure.»

If you study, work, or are looking for work, that list sounds familiar. An appointment means money, travel, and schedules that don't always exist. What stops you is not lack of desire. It's the structure.

An AI informs, it doesn't accompany

11% of those who did not seek professional care preferred to resolve their doubts with artificial intelligence, according to the AXA and Ipsos report. It makes sense: it's available at 3 in the morning, doesn't charge, and doesn't look at you weird.

But there is a fundamental difference. A chatbot clarifies concepts and helps you organize what you feel; it doesn't diagnose or accompany over time. It can respond poorly, misinterpret a symptom, or let a situation that does need professional intervention pass.

Francisco Morales Caballero, a psychologist consulted by Doctoralia, considers that the internet can be a first approach to understanding what's happening to you, as long as the process doesn't end there. A professional evaluates your history, your context, and what you need specifically, and offers follow-up. That part no tool replaces.

We are made in God's image, also emotionally. Caring for the mind is not lack of faith or weakness: it is caring for the life you received.

The issue reached the government. In August, President Claudia Sheinbaum said at a morning conference that she was concerned that young people use AI instead of therapy.

The ENIAG 2025, a study on generative AI in Mexican universities, found that 91,935 students have used these tools as emotional support: advice on anxiety, venting, the feeling that someone is listening.

How to start without paying everything at once

There are more accessible doors. Doctoralia Terapia arrived in Mexico in January 2026 with a questionnaire that guides you to a psychologist and a first 25-minute session at no cost, so you can decide if you want to start a process.

According to the platform, more than 14,000 of those sessions have been scheduled and 41% led to therapy. It works with more than 700 accredited psychologists with a license and reaches all 32 states, with virtual consultations that reduce travel and schedule conflicts.

That doesn't erase everything: sustaining treatment still costs, and connection and time still weigh. That's why it's good to move on several fronts.

Write down what you feel and since when, so you don't arrive blank at the first appointment. Ask at universities, churches, and health centers about social rates or supervised programs.

And tell someone you trust; carrying it alone was never the plan: "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2, ESV).

If distress becomes urgent, seek professional help as soon as possible; in an emergency, call your country's emergency services. Who are you going to write to this week?
